The Inwood Literary Review

Where are we?

Some people refer to our neighborhood as "upstate Manhattan".  Upper Manhattan is home to many landmarks including The Cloisters, The National Academy of Arts and Letters, The Dyckman Farmhouse Museum, The Hispanic Society of American, The Morris-Jumel Museum, The Little Red Lighthouse, The National Track and Field Hall of Fame, Columbia University’s Chrystie Fieldhouse, and the George Washington Bridge.  Fort Tryon Park, Highbridge Park, and Inwood Hill Park surround the area with hundreds of acres of parkland, woods, trails, and recreational facilities.

The Inwood Literary Review plans to focus on upper Manhattan.  We
are actively seeking submissions from residents of Inwood and Washington Heights.  Submissions from other locales are acceptable.

Once we get underway with our first issue, we hope to encourage neighborhood readings.

This website will be updated regularly so if there’s a neighborhood event you’d like us to include, please contact us.

Writing a book is a long exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness.  One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon one can neither resist nor understand. - George Orwell
